I recently read that scientists are meeting in London to discuss the real possibility that artificial intelligence might someday take over from humans. That same day I saw a TV ad about a computer speech program that learns to recognize your individual accent or speech pattern and adjusts itself. Scary. I love my computer, but fear technology's bent toward isolating us will only grow. I'm glad to see recycling growing and hope more and more we are heeding the global warming threat,but we hate to walk more and eat less. It's hard to say how we'll evolve as a nation as a world.
